Have you been feeling stressed these last few weeks during finals? Has finals been depressing you or making you anxious?
You are not alone, lots of us know how you feel right now! Finals can be an extremely stressful time, where we all try to get our grades up and make sure we have all our missing work turned in and last-minute chances to get some extra credit… It is a lot! We all understand how overwhelming it can be, especially if you are a senior were all trying to make sure we get all our credits and get to graduate come May. According to the Anxiety and Depression association of America have shown that over 80% of student express stress during the school year with the majority being during finals. While finals might be the most stressful part of the year for most students, most do not seek help for their struggles and feel very alone during this very overwhelming period.
Stress affects the body so much mentally, behaviorally, and physically. Stress can cause you problems such as chest pain, fatigue, depression, lack of motivation, irritability, social withdrawal, and even lack of sleep. Stress causes a lot of damage to your body, especially if you do not reach out for help when it is starting to become too much. We all know how hard it can be to get yourself that help when there are so many things that need to be done, but you cannot do your best if your body is not taken care of. You must take care of your body so you can do your best! You do not have to sit down for prolonged periods of time just find a friend or a teacher who will listen and ask if you can express yourself for a second just ‘get some stuff off your chest’ it helps a bunch even if it is just a few things over a few minutes it makes such a difference.
Overall, I hope everyone does great on their finals and gets all their credits and hopefully gets some relief during Christmas break. We all deserve this break and none of you are alone! Your all phenomenal have a fantastic day!!
