“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time” -Thomas Merton

Blog post by: Alexyss C. Leon-Guerrero

Hello fellow readers and welcome to my page. I wanted to share some of my artwork I’ve been working on so far this year. I personally love to draw and have been ever since I can remember. It is a nice way for me to cope and relax and also to help connect with others. I wanted to also share that with you all and for you to know me a little better though art.

The quote I used above really connected personally because I find out small pieces of myself through my artwork and I get so focused on drawing I lose myself in a sense and escape reality. I thought it was a nice quote to help show how I feel about at as well. Art is like a way I speak to others without saying words and I like hearing everyone’s different opinions and ideas of what is going on in just one picture. I also love how I am able to express myself through my artwork and to be able to share it with you all.

Lately I’ve been drawing characters I’ve created myself and backstories for them. I’ve been also trying to challenge myself by putting them in different worlds and how they would look in those environments and their roles. For example, I drew my cyborg character named Apoctoliptia ( A-poc-tol-lip-tia). She lives in the year 3335 and the apocalypse has started with robots and aliens. She’s on this mission to help restore peace to the world and to search for her lost little sister. I plan to draw her environment later on. I also am creating new characters and designs for my comic books that I am making. I plan to publish them over the summer break, preferably in early June.

This was an originally a doodle but then I made her part shark and named her Shallow.
A character I drew and she is a witch.
I drew the tattoo I am getting over this summer.

If any of you are interested in my artwork/comic books/ commissions, I am here and will do them. The current comic book I am working on is called The Planet of D.S.P.A.L and the other is called Clutter. I hope to have both published over the summer, preferable in June. If you are interested or have questions, feel free to reach out to me.

  1. I mean, wow! You are obviously incredibly talented! That’s so exciting to be able to say your work that came from your very own creations will be published. Way to make your fellow panthers proud! Beautiful work!
